Thank goodness Rob had so many groomsmen in his wedding party. It was all hands on deck helping to build the chuppah.

The bridesmaids also got in on the action, putting together the wedding programs.

Speaking of love… Laura chose TOMS, one of our favorite shoes, as her wedding day footwear! Love!!

The bouquets and floral arrangements were stunning, and provided by Ory Florals.

A little bit of fun with the ring shot! We couldn’t ignore these great red leaves!

Caitlin and David’s love story added a new chapter later in the fall when they married at The Cloisters Castle, settled high on a hill in Lutherville, Maryland. Leading up to their wedding day, weather reports warned about a hurricane called Sandy coming blowing through town, and though some windy conditions and cloudy skies threatened a bit, the ceremony and reception both went off without a hitch, or a raindrop, in sight.

We are big fans of Toms shoes, and we loved that Caitlin chose them for her wedding day! One for one!

A little fun before the ceremony? Yep, that’s the groomsmen playing some Smath!

David and Caitlin used lots of book-related details throughout their wedding day, including this amazing wreath, made of book pages.

Caitlin and David were eager to do a “first look” before the ceremony. And they were so sweet during it, too!

What an awesome surprise during the ceremony – a hawk flew in on cue, to bring in the rings. Can’t say we’ve ever seen that before! So cool.

Caitlin’s sisters gave one of the most hilarious speeches, giving their new brother-in-law a hard time!

We adore the Cloisters. What an amazing location, with so many lovely places for photographs.

Guests had a great time on the dance floor all afternoon, and with the silly station, too! (see below)

Nicole’s shoes were hand-painted with her name and Mary’s name, the wedding date, and other special details. We couldn’t stop looking at them, admiring all the detail!

Once the flowers, designed by Roberta Salcedo at Bella Fiori Couture Floral & Event Designs, arrived the excitement level went through the roof. We’ve never seen anything like them, with so many textures and colors. Awesome!

Nicole’s gift to her brother was this sweet record player. She must like him, at least a little bit!

Before stepping into their wedding wear, the ladies exchanged cards and gifts in separate rooms. Tears were expected, and neither disappointed!

Mary got dressed in her stunning ballgown style dress in the bridal suite. The colors in the room were perfect, and she and her mom couldn’t have been happier and more excited.

Mary and Nicole opted for a “first look” before the ceremony, to allow for plenty of picture-taking time. Great move, especially since Antrim 1844 has so many great locations for pictures!

A great wedding party all around! So much fun, and not bad to look at! We especially loved the bridesmaids’ cool black necklaces, purchased on Etsy.

String Poets provided beautiful music before, during, and after the ceremony.

The Rev. Amanda Tate presided over the ceremony, which included the ancient handfasting custom, during which the couple’s hands are tied together with ribbon to symbolize their union.

We felt so lucky to have Shelly of Blue Sky Films with us through the day to capture great moments like this one!

A croquet lawn for the cocktail hour? Don’t mind if we do!

The reception was chockfull of awesome details, highlighted by a classic movie theme. Each table, instead of numbers, had a classic film star assigned to it. So guests would be assigned to the Elizabeth Taylor table or the Jimmy Stewart table, for example.

Guests wrote well wishes on mini hearts.

This stunner of a cake was created by Kendall’s Cakes.

The reception was rocking in every sense of the word, thanks to the outstanding group known as The Nerds. As they played, memorable scenes from classic films were projected onto the walls, or onto guests’ backs, in some cases!

Everyone couldn’t help but get in on the fun throughout the day and night, to celebrate these two lovely ladies. Congratulations, Mary and Nicole. And thank you so much for allowing us to capture your awesome wedding day!

Jon really wanted the wedding colors to be true Hokie – maroon and orange – but Amanda chose to incorporate grey into the mix with beautiful results!

Much effort was put into finding these ties for the guys, and it was well worth it. They looked sharp! And the ladies? Super stunning as well.

Jon’s uncle performed the ceremony, and talked about the first time he saw his nephew, just hours after he was born.

Just as they kissed, the rain started to drop! Perfect timing, as we were ready to head inside for the party…

We loved the hokie cake topper! Adding a bit of funny to a lovely day.

And, of course, the silly station made an appearance, with lots of creative results!

A little bit of “Gangnam style”? You bet! Jon’s moves were simply outstanding!!

We started out at the Gaylord National Resort, which never ceases to amaze us!

Then, it was on to the ceremony at the Universalist National Memorial Church in the District of Columbia.

What a building! And the inside was even more impressive…

Davinci’s Florist created this dreamy bridal bouquet with white roses and white feathers and crystals to coordinate with Christina’s dress!

Why, yes, those are feathers on Christina’s gorgeous dress!

Then, it was back to the gaylord for a super reception, packed with some amazing details…

Christina and Ken were able to duck outside for a few pics right at sunset, yay!

We absolutely love all of the wonderful details inside the 18th century manor home at Stone Manor Country Club.

Speaking of great details, this day was full of them! We loved the colors of Amanda’s fan (above) and her amazing blue shoes (below).

Carl and his best man, Rob, were hilarious. They were up for just having a good time, perfect for fun, relaxed photos!

Amanda’s sister, Michelle, was the Maid of Honor, as you can tell by the cute personalized shirts. We love them!

Amanda’s dress and her cascading red hair looked simply stunning together.

Folks were busy snapping pictures before the ceremony even started!

Amanda’s dad walked her from the manor home to the lawn and then handed her off to her mom, who walked her the rest of the way. Great way to include both parents!

We love, love, love the vineyard on Stone Manor’s property! Such an amazing location for portraits, any time of year!

The details Amanda and Carl included for their big day were nothing short of amazing, including the life-like butterflies in each centerpiece. They actually flapped their wings slowly all evening!

Since the wedding was later in the evening, they opted for a dessert reception. Everyone was totally on board for ice cream and s’mores all night long!

Seriously cool wedding invites!

When we arrived, Allison was still sewing some flowers onto her wedding dress, and other little details were getting finished up!

Allison and Jon Paul included so many incredible, personal details. Special guests wore these ribbons throughout the day. Love it!

When they were finished getting all jazzed up, Allison and Jon Paul exited their downtown Frederick apartment and walked through the streets, headed to the ceremony…

The Dapper DJ and Skat Cat Jack spun some swingin’ tunes from the 1920s to 1940s on vintage picnic Victrolas before the ceremony started.

The ceremony was held at Surreybrooke, a family-owned farm and garden center in Frederick. Beautiful setting!

The ceremony was a lot of fun, but Jon Paul and Allison both took it very seriously, saying “It befits us to have a wedding outdoors, with nothing below our feet but the earth and nothing above our  heads but the sky.”

Having a little fun with some old-timey poses!

What an entrance! Guests cheered on the happy couple as they walked into the William R. Talley Recreation Center in downtown Frederick for the reception.

Instead of a guest book, guests chose a little guy or gal on this poster to color and added messages alongside.

And tons of board games were laid out for anyone to grab and play!

The vibe at the Talley Center was definitely reminiscent of a mid-century high school prom, with twinkly lights strung over basketball hoops. So fun!

Probably the best cake-cutting shot we’ve been able to capture. Love these two!

Each table had a cake or a pie, lovingly baked by a friend or family member. Jon Paul and Allison visited each table and helped cut into the desserts while socializing with guests!

both Allison and Jon Paul are involved with the Maryland Ensemble Theatre and so are many of their friends. This resulted in some dramatic hilarity at the silly station all night long!

Jon Key with Tiny Monster Media captured video throughout the day. We had a great time working with him! See if you can find him in this pic, ya know, like “Where’s Waldo?”, but “Where’s the Video Guy?”.

Here’s the happy couple during their engagement session last fall at the site of their first date, the National Gallery of Art!

After some time in the heart of the city, we headed into Maryland for less formal shots, and to include their dog, Katie. We love dogs!!

Following this gorgeous session, after many months and many emails, the big day finally arrived! And it ended up being literally the hottest day of the year. Despite that, it was fantastic in every way!

The ladies knew how to party, breakin’ out the bubbly while getting ready!

Rachael’s bridesmaids did hair and makeup for everyone. Seriously impressed with their team effort – and it all stayed beautifully, even through lots of steamy weather. Go team!

Rachael’s dad, Alfredo, was nothing less than awesome! His reaction to seeing his daughter in her dress was priceless. What a proud papa!

Joe was full of emotion when Rachael entered the church, but soon she had him smiling like crazy!

Holy Rosary Church is stunning inside and out. It’s a gorgeous place for a wedding!

These two really like each other. Really!

After pics at the church, we hopped into a limo, and headed down to the National Mall …

Here they are again at the National Gallery of Art, this time as husband and wife!

Aren’t these two just gorgeous?!

Following the ceremony, guests headed up to the rooftop at 101 Constitution Ave., and were treated to some amazing views of the city throughout the reception.

Joe’s brother and Rachael’s sister gave some pretty amazing speeches. So full of love.

Guests were treated to this view of the U.S. Capitol building all night long. Amazing!

The capitol was also the backdrop for our silly station! Guests got wild and wacky all night!

And when it was time to dance, everyone took to heart the lyrics “party on the rooftop, top of the world’!

And an awesome sparkler send-off! Yay, Rachael and Joe!

We had a blast with these two among all the great scenery at Harper’s Ferry. Little did we know what great scenery we were in for during their wedding day, a few months later…

What a fun group – we love when a wedding party is willing to really get into it during group photo time!

The setting for the wedding and reception was an amazing property owned by Randee’s aunt and uncle. With rolling fields and a lovely lake, what more could we ask for?

Randee’s uncle planted barley in the fields surrounding the house specifically for the big day! How awesome is that?!? Your very own custom backdrop to your wedding day!

My trusty assistant and silly station attendant (also known as my wife, Molly) spotted the moon in this field for this lovely shot.

Remember how we said Randee and Adam are crafty? Well, just check out these details. Adam created several different home-brewed beers as favors for guests and Randee worked on all the fun details, such as the cool green shutters that held guests’ placecards.

We loved the family-style seating in the tent! What a great idea!

The cake, cupcakes, and pies looked and tasted awesome!

This crowd knew how to party. Randee’s nephew even got in on the dancing action!

Of course, the silly station was rockin’ all night long!!

And so was the dancing!!

A brilliant, flashy send-off for a simply lovely, in-love couple. Congratulations, Megan and Jason! Here’s to many more years of sparkle in your lives!

We are thrilled to be a sponsor of this year’s film festival, set for (next) Friday, June 22 through Sunday, June 24 in downtown Frederick! We had the pleasure of meeting up with the festival’s board of directors a few months ago and providing them with some new headshots and group shots, and let’s just say, these guys are a fun group!

At this year’s f3, 50 indie shorts, and about a dozen feature-length independent films will be screened, a kids film fest is planned, and there will be lots of opportunities for film fans to pick filmmakers’ brains about their craft. It’s going to be very, very cool. Looking forward to seeing you there!
